Making headlines as a radio star

Barney McGrew : Ex Racehorse enjoying retirement

WELL, I might have been ignored by the telly last Friday but I’m delighted to have made the radio this morning.

I was part of the BBC Radio Tees breakfast show where they have a regular feature called ‘The Headline Challenge’.

It’s a kind of game where the listeners compete to come up with the best headline for a chosen story.

The story this morning was about me – the great Barney McGrew – being given my own blog, and the winning headline was ‘Trot off the press’.

Not bad, I suppose, but I’d have gone with ‘Hoof I got news for you’. That would have been much better, and I love that programme – you can’t beat a good laugh.

Of course, I’d rather have been on the telly, so everyone can see how handsome I am, but radio’s the next best thing and who knows where these things might lead? I’ll have a ‘colt following’ before you know it!

If you want to hear the radio broadcast, go to: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p08dpbd5 and move it along to around 2 hours 55 minutes.

Oh, and if anyone wants a signed picture, let me know.

Stay safe everyone. Lots of love.
